18th May 2014

Weather: SSE 3-4, 35 miles vis

An adult female Blackbird was caught and ringed in the Old Obs garden - one of the small breeding bird population of this species on the island.

The first Spotted Flycatcher of the year was found in the Old Obs garden briefly mid morning before promptly disappearing.  Despite a thorough search of the island it could not be found, however, as is often the case with these smart flycatchers it appeared in the SK trap just after midday.

Invertebrates continue to be evident and included a different Wall butterfly (this one not having a notch out of its  left wing) was found and a Brimstone moth was a nice sighting.
