Weather: NNE 2-3, 6/8 cloud
The scoter flocks off North Wirral can be seen distantly from the island and more were to the West of Hilbre with a very conservative 10,000 estimated today. Three Red-breasted Mergansers and 5 Great Crested Grebes were also noted on the sea.
A couple of Little Egrets were seen and wader numbers were notable with 320 Turnstone an excellent count, 344 Curlew, 15 Ringed Plover more expected and just 25 Redshank and 5 Purple Sandpiper disappointing even for early April.
A Merlin was seen again this morning and a single Rock Pipit was at the North End. The first couple of birds (Robins) of April were ringed late afternoon.

Meanwhile a female Common Scoter made a brief appearance on West Kirby Marine Lake - a scarce bird here considering the vast numbers in Liverpool Bay at the moment!
