9th October 2016

Weather: E 1, 7/8 first thing sunny later

Another lovely morning on the islands started with a light easterly breeze as has become the norm recently and hopefully for the foreseeable.

Song Thrushes (7) and Blackbirds (3) were on the move as were Skylarks (12), Starlings (6) and Meadow Pipits (150).

Reed Buntings could be heard early on with birds moving high south and a couple hanging around with the local Linnet flock.

Three Wigeon were on the Whaleback along with Pale-bellied Brents (19)

A couple of Chiffchaffs were noted and Goldcrests appeared later in the morning.

During the afternoon a Raven was watched flying in from Wales then between the islands before it took a brief rest stop on the East Hoyke sand bank before continuing towards Hoylake.

Another couple of Wrens were ringed today meaning nine new Wrens had been ringed on the island in the last four days.

Ringing: Wren (2), Goldcrest, Chiffchaff [443-29]
