A cold and windy morning meant there was not much happening birdwise but at least the Thrift looked beautiful in full flower. The best bird of the day was a Golden Plover seen in summer plumage (per Matt Thomas). Two Canada Geese were the only other unexpected species but other pleasing records included a good count of 22 Whimbrel, a juvenile Shag, 3 summer plumage Turnstone, 73 Sandwich, 60 Common and a single Little Tern. An Orange Tip and a Red Admiral butterfly braved the weather.
