12th August 2023

Weather: SE force 4 early morning, SW 6 by the afternoon

The overnight sourth easterly brought in 6 Willow Warblers to the paddocks and 4 were then ringed.

The all yellow juveniles are a joy to see feeding in the gardens. Three Wheatears arrived today which always grace the open areas when they are here.

A Whitethroat was present and was caught for ringing. A handful of Swallows came through and harassed the locals who were busy feeding their young, as were some of the Meadow Pipits.

Cormorants are always around the islands at all times of year but often ignored. An adult and a juvenile showed well for the camera.

The Eider is still taking a liking to the rocks around the island.

Two Common Blues , 6 Small Whites and a Red Admiral showed.

While the moth trap scored again with the following:

Vines Rustic

White-line dart

Ear moth  sp

The Grey Seals were counted at 285 in the west hoyle roost.
