Weather: SW force 3, W 4 by noon
Highlight of the many waders around the island at high tide was a Purple Sandpiper.
A single Purple Sandpiper is often seen here during the summer but of course the main influx is in late autumn when birds arrive for the winter.
Forty Eight Turnstones were counted, some keeping company with a single Knot.
There were 60 Curlew, 5 Whimbrel, 250 Dunlin, 38 Ringed Plover and 31 Redshank.
Terns seen in the roost were 225 Sandwich, 9 Common and 15 Little, with 2 Common Scoter on the sea. The usual 500 or so Black-headed Gulls at this time of year were on the shore mostly east of the islands and 8 Eiders floated about.
Still 42 Linnets to be seen also 5 Goldfinches today, the Kestrel was the only raptor.
Two Large White butterflies flew, amongst the 6 Small Whites.
