Weather: N force 1/2    cold

The male Scaup was joined by the second one again today, floating just off the north end (right,CJ). The other highlight was off a male Sparrowhawk flushing the waders in the east gutter before flying off towards Red Rocks. Redshank were counted at 129, while a Blackbird, a Rock Pipit and a single Linnet were present. A Grey Seal was hauled out on the rocks below the steps to 'shell beach'. At high tide 14 Linnets flew over the obs towards Middle. Four Purple Sandpipers roosted the tide as did 4,000 Oystercatchers, also 600 Dunlin and 52 Curlew. Ninety six Brent gathered in the lagoon.
