Weather: SW force 2, ESE 1 in the afternoon
A slow start to the day (with light south westerly rather than forecast south easterly wind), but the wind dropped to 0 knots and it felt good. Passage birds were again numerous including 5 Reed Buntings,
and 5 Skylarks flying over.
also 3 Greenfinch, 9 Redwing, a male Blackcap, a single Grey Wagtail and 6 Alba wagtails, 3 Goldcrests, a Chiffchaff and a male Blackcap, these were the best of the passerines, with 2 Dunnocks still here from yesterday. One was ringed this morning.
In addition to the Redwings a Song Thrush came down and posed during a slightly brighter spell.
Two Whooper swans flew north mid afternoon, 2 Goosanders south early on (with 8 more on WKML), also 8 Wigeon, 243 pale and 1 adult dark-bellied Brent.
An Eider (male) was present, as was the Kestrel, a Merlin flew north and a Peregrine was seen.
The sea was good for numbers with 45 Gannet, 42 Red-throated Divers, 2600 Common Scoter (some flocks closer than usual), 6 Razorbills and 15 Guillemots but only 9 Great Crested Grebes (presumably they were further east towards north wirral). Six Shags swan in a flock off the island.
In the late afternoon 2 late Swallows went north down the east side.
Ringed: 3 Wrens, 1 Dunnock.
