4th April 2024

 Weather:  SE force 1

Not much migration today but a few Sandwich Terns were passing in small single figure parties totalling 25. The telescope again came into its own with sightings of 2,000 Common Scoter, 8 Gannets, 9 Guillemots, 5 Red-throated Divers, 5 Great Crested Grebes and 11 Red-breasted Mergansers. Wildfowl that were easier to see were 4 Canada Geese, 6 Eiders and a male Goosander. Appearing again on the list were two each of Jackdaws and Woodpigeons.

Not too many Meadow Pipits today but 3 Wheatears made up for it.

There were 293 Brent who were in good voice and gathered at the north end, preparing for the journey north soon?

Blackbirds are getting ready for the breeding season to come, it remains to be seen how many will breed.

A Chiffchaff was still here but no White Wagtails came through the island today. Others present but not yet mentioned were 5 Little Egrets, a Grey Heron, 5 Shelduck, 5 Mallard, 153 Curlew and 10 Purple Sandpipers.

Ringed :  2 Linnets, 1 Wren, 1 Chiffchaff
