Weather: WSW force 3 WNW 4 after the tide
The odd migrant turned up on a quiet day, and there was one each of Willow Warbler, Wheatear, and Grey Wagtail although 3 Robins and 5 Swallows were the exception. Another Brent arrived today, making 3 early birds on the islands. The westerly blew in 70 Gannets, while 300 Sandwich terns were noted and a Shag was still at the north end.
Around the edges of the islands were 18 Little Egrets and 5 Grey Herons. A Raven paid a visit and in addition to the regular Kestrel a Peregrine gave a show of aerial skill. Waders included 200 Curlew, 2 Whimbrel, 4,500 Oystercatchers, 35 Redshank and 12 Dunlin and 150 Ringed Plover.
Pipits present were 6 Meadow and 8 Rock. There was olfactory evidence of the presence of the Fox. Three frogs were seen...
... while butterflies noted were 12 Red Admirals,
...... a Painted Lady and a Small Copper (scarce here).
