19th September 2022

Weather: NE force 2, drizzle at first, sunny intervals later

The light north easterly was obviously suitable for the arrival of Goldcrests as 4 were here this morning when very few have been on the island this autumn. A male was ringed today.

No other migrants on the ground but still 5 Robins and 3 Blackbirds in the paddocls and gardens. A Red-throated Diver and 10 Common Scoter were the only sea birds around apart from the Guillemot that seemed not well in the gutter after the early tide. Wildowl today only featured 13 Shelduck and 5 Brent, there may be more Brent somewhere in the local area.

Waders included 15 Bar-tailed Godwit and 55 Ringed Plover, 18 Turnstone, 2 Knot and 27 Redshank. A Raven visited the area and a Kestrel found the island good for vole hunting.
