Weather : SE force 3/4 some mist
A single Greenshank was here this morning, possibly one of the flock of 6 yesterday.
But bird of the day was a calling Spotted Redshank, a very scarce wader at Hilbre. Waders were the main attraction around the island such as 2 Whimbrel, 3 Bar-tailed Godwit and 85 Ringed Plover. A couple of Ravens varied the scene, however migrants were very few, just 2 Grey Wagtails and a few Swallows. Notable other sightings were 8 Little Egrets, 2 Shags and a roaming flock of 55 Linnets on Middle island. We don't see many grasshoppers on the island, but today one was near the gate next to the Newton trap.
