Weather: W force 4/5
A busy day work wise with repairs and maintenance carried out around the observatory. However, a quiet day bird wise but still small numbers of waders about with Redshank now numbering 12, also 7 Curlew, a single Ringed Plover and 5 Turnstone which were seen to fly in and land briefly at the North End before continueing eastwards.
Some nice butterflies included a Small Tortoiseshell, 3 Green-veined White, a skipper species, and 3 Gatekeepers.
Three Little Egrets were seen around the islands with a
further 12 at Tanskeys (within our recording area) noted by a member on the
mainland. A Great Crested Grebe and the Kestrel were here and of course the regulars this summer, including a juvenile Pied Wagtail.
