Weather: SE force 5
One of our regular seal counts produced 434 individuals resting on the west hoyle bank.
The wind was in the south after mostly westerlies recently but 2 Gannets and 2 Sandwich Terns were on the sea with gulls hanging about the shores including 650 Herring, 8 Lesser and 12 Great Black-backs. Six Eiders on the island again today.
The breeding birds were of course now receiving our full attention and mention must be made of 11 Rock Pipits (including several young).
Just 3 Swallows still fly around the island and 5 Blackbirds were present. The Kestrel a Little Egret and 2 Ringed Plover fed on the shore.
