Few grounded migrants today in the strong south westerly, 3 Willow Warblers, 2 Chiffchaffs, 3 Goldcrests, a male Blackcap and 6 Wheatears, with a drift through of 24 Goldfinches, 6 White Wagtails, 9 Swallows and 4 Sand Martins. The best record of the day was a male and 2 female Pochard, a very scarce bird at Hilbre. Six Gannets were on the sea with 22 Great Crested Grebes, 100 Sandwich and 30 Common Terns and a Fulmar, the first to be seen this year.
