Weather: NE force 3 with some drizzle early on.
Another small drift in of some Willow Warblers today, mainly after the arrival of some drizzle in the morning. The 2 dozen or so birds included an interesting northern acredula type, lacking in green or yellow tones compared with birds over the last 2 days or so.
A Blackcap was also found in the paddocks and 3 Wheatears on the island. Twenty one Swallows were the only hirundines today and 2 Siskins the only finches other than the 40 odd breeding Linnets. Three Eiders (2drakes) were present and 2 Ravens visited.
Waders included a Whimbrel, 20 Ringed Plover, 25 Sanderling, 280 Dunlin and 3 Purple Sandpiper. A male Scoter was around, also 15 Shelduck, and 5 Little Egrets. A White Wagtail turned up in addition to the breeding pair of Pied Wagtails.
Butterflies put on a good show today with 5 Orange Tip, a Peacock and a Small Tortoiseshell. Seen among the 7 Short-tailed Field voles were 5 youngsters.
