6th April 2022

Weather: WSW force 5,    showers early dry by mid-morning

The wind direction indicated there would be no migrants and apart from a small movement of Meadow Pipits heading west and 3 Goldfinches, that was the case this morning. The stiff breeze blew a Gannet into view and there were 175 Brent, 4 Shelduck, 4 Mallard and 2 Little Egrets. Plenty of Linnets singing around the islands and a nice second year male was ringed. The Hilbre population of this declining species is doing well.
