1st March 2017

Weather: SW 1/2 vis 35 mls
The main focus today was on repairing the damage to the SK trap caused by storm Doris, with little time given to birding.
A Little Egret was south of middle eye and 2 Grey Herons flew between middle and Hilbre. One of the 7 Meadow Pipits present was seen to be ringed and gave a short display flight in the Heli garden, a definite sign that spring is almost here. Two Pied Wagtails and 4 Linnets flew over the island. On the sea were 65 Common Scoter and 2 female Scaup close in on the east side. The only waders noted were 93 Redshank, 90 Turnstone, 3 Grey Plover and 137 Curlew.
