11th June 2021

Weather: SW force 5/6, later WNW 2/3

A fresh wind brought 6 Gannets in view and tern sightings improved with 18 Sandwich Terns, 110 Common Terns and 23 Little Terns (which were by Salisbury bank just after it was covered by the tide).

Other records were 6 Little Egrets, 4 Shelduck and a Grey heron, while gulls noted included 24 Great Black-Backs, 42 Black-Headed and 800 Herring. Meanwhile on the island the Whitethroat sings, and in addition to the nesting Linnets, Meadow Pipits, Wrens, Blackbirds and Rock Pipits, the pair of Pied Wagtails also seem to be definitely nesting.

The pair of Eiders were sitting apart today.
