1st June 2021

Weather: SE force 2/3 very warm and sunny

Still no sign of a Spotted Flycatcher, a species we hope for at this time in late spring. There were in fact no migrants as such although a flock of 16 Canada Geese flew north in the recording area towards the West Kirby shore. A Painted Lady butterfly was on the Thrift, possibly the same insect as was seen on Sunday.

At least one pair of Swallows has a nest with eggs, even if most Swallows seem to be late nesting this spring. Six young Linnets and a juvenile Blackbird were ringed, which is important for the monitoring of the island breeeding birds.

Talking of monitoring, the obs counts the seals on a regular basis.

Ringed : 6 Linnets, 1 Blackbird.
