10th July 2021

Weather:  W force 3, WNW 2 by noon

Despite the relatively light winds and poor visibility, 22 Gannets and 19 Manx Shearwaters moved through in small parties and 25 Common Scoter and a Shag were off the north end. At high tide 8 Little Egrets and 3 Grey Herons roosted on the east side of the top of Middle Eye. Six summer plumaged Dunlin were the best of the waders. The only real small migrants were 10 Sand Martins. The Kestrels went one better today and 3 turned up on the island. The male of the pair of Pied Wagtails showed as well as its offspring.

A decent list of moths in the trap this morning were as listed on the sheet:

Scalloped Oak was added later
Scalloped Oak

Scarce Footman

Garden Tiger

Small Blood Vein
The island flowers are at their best at the moment.
