7th October 2021

Weather: ESE force 4, SSW by midday.

A change in the weather brought our first two winter visitor Whooper Swans flying from west to east over the island.

A Lapwing was in the gutter before flying off to the east, our first of the autumn.

A late Wheatear stopped at Middle on its way south, looking very red in the early light.

A couple of Reed Buntings and Skylarks passed through as did a few dozen Meadow Pipits, while a Goldcrest was in the paddocks. Counts of the regulars included 84 Brent, 13 Little Egrets. The Barn Owl was showing in the upper paddock around 7pm.
