2nd February 2024

Weather: SW force 4,  WSW 6 in the afternoon

The increase in temperature today was probably the cause of much higher Pipit activity  than of late with 10 Meadow and 7 Rock recorded, with display of both species being noted, especially around Middle Eye.

A pair of Goosander caught crabs at the North End early morning.

The 3 Eiders were here and a large count of 450 Brent including a dark-bellied bird. Some of the 78 Turnstones were bathing in the rock pools.

Other waders present were 200 Curlew , 30 Redshank, 7 Purple Sandpipers and a Bar-tailed Godwit. On the sea were 2 Guillemot and 13 Common Scoter. The pair of Mallard were on the pond again. A Raven, the Kestrel, a Little Egret and 2 Grey Herons completed the picture.
