Weather: NNE force 3 slight mist, sunny and hot
Another promising start to the day with a Garden Warbler in the paddocks and 4 Willow Warblers feeding around the gardens, the one below showing long primary projection which distinguishes it from Chiffchaff.
The Garden Warbler escaped ringing but a couple of Robins and a Goldcrest did not. It was pleasing to ring one of the 6 Wheatears as they have been elusive recently.
Other migrants passing through were 4 Pied Wagtails and several Meadow Pipits and Swallows. Waders were scarce before the tide but a Whimbrel and 6 Bar-tailed Godwits and were notable. A Snipe flew by at Little Eye mid-morning and just a single Knot was east of Middle.
Sixty Sandwich Terns came out of the estuary after dawn. The 3 Eiders were here plus a Goosander near the north end. There were 6 Little Egrets today including this showy individual.
The Kestrel seems to be a fixture here recently.
The butterflies were dominated by Red Admirals, there were about 165 at least, with many seen to arrive from the sea.
A number of Small Whites, a Small Tortoiseshell and a Comma were also logged. Dragonflies present were an Emperor, a Common Darter and 2 Migrant Hawkers.
