12th March 2011

With light winds from the south today was a good migration day with visible migration of Meadow Pipits in off the sea totalling 119 and a small passage of Pied Wagtails (15), also a single Grey Wagtail. A Stonechat was on the island, definitely a different bird from that on Tuesday as it was a female, and another good find was a Brambling that spent a short time around the gardens and then departed with 3 Siskins. Three Skylarks, a male Chaffinch, a Greenfinch and another Woodpigeon completed the main points of interest.
Two hundred Bar-tailed Godwits were noted flying south west.
Later in the afternoon the first 3 Sand Martins of the year drifted south along the reef south of Middle, these are quite early even by Sand Martin standards.
