A fairly quiet day was livened up on the sea with a fine drake Velvet Scoter seen in flight amongst the masses of Commons out off North Wirral.
Also 33 Little Gulls, the best count of the spring so far, including a flock of 20 which passed up the west side of the island before heading north.
A Merlin was seen again this morning and raised inevitable questions about whether it is the same bird or birds are passing through.
