13th September 2021

Weather: SSE force 4, later ESE 3  rain and drizzle

A miserable start to the day with rain and drizzle persisting, nevertheless a single Willow Warbler was grounded.

and 8 Wheatears made landfall around the island to feed.

A Merlin was a good addition to the day list, but with few other migrants the best course of action was to count the waders. There were 4,500 Oystercatchers, 243 Curlew, 750 Dunlin, 65 Ringed Plover, 2 Grey Plover, 11 Sanderling and a Bar-tailed Godwit. The only sea birds seen were 4 Sandwich Terns, a Guillemot and 2 Great Crested Grebes. The early group of 3 Brent are still feeding here, as were 6 Little Egrets and 4 Grey Herons.
