1st September 2021

Weather: E force 2, NE 2 by noon

Despite the easterly wind the sea is always worth a look, there were 10 Gannets today, also 16 Scoter, 2 Guillemot and 2 Great Crested Grebes. Around the islands were 10 Shelduck and 2 Mallard, while more evocative of autumn were the appearamnce of 5 Teal. Among the commoner gulls were an adult and a juvenile Mediterranean Gull, and on the shore 9 Little Egrets and 3 Grey Herons, also small numbers of waders including 650 Dunlin, 4 Bar-tailed Godwit and 6 Sanderling. A visiting Raven showed up later. The easterly only brought a single Willow Warbler as a small migrant and the cloudy coolish weather only encouraged a single Red Admiral to fly and make the insect list.
