4th October 2022

 Weather: S force 3,  rain from mid-morning

After a dry start the day deteriorated into heavy rain showers, but before that a Goldcrest was on the ground to be ringed (the only bird today), and as with the warblers few have arrived here this autumn.

A Starling flew over as the sole passage bird and a Raven on Middle made the now regular appearance, and that was about it despite the wind being in the south. The Kestrel was still here and a Peregrine did fly over the north end.

There were 82 Brent in 2 groups split between the east hoyle and south west of the reef, and over 200 Common Scoter were out to sea. Curlew numbers were high at 385 seen, Oystercatchers numbered over 7,000, also 26 Turnstone, 18 Knot, 56 Redshank and a Bar-tailed Godwit.

Nine Little Egrets, a Grey Heron and a Shelduck were on the shore.
