Weather: WSW force 3, later NW 2
Despite the change in wind direction there were still a few migrants about today with 3 Jackdaw flying south early, 2 Greenland Wheatear making landfall. a female Blackcap in the Blackthorn and a Sedge Warbler singing in the Obs garden. Four Eider and 6 Shelduck were about the islands, with the Shelduck displaying on top of the old lifeboat station.
Twenty five Whimbrel were among the waders, also 3 Bar-tailed Godwits and 42 Ringed Plover, while Dunlin numbers had increased with 4,200 roosting on the 2 main islands over tide.
About 50 of the 150 Sandwich Tern noted today also rested
on the rocks.
Gannets were still visible in good numbers with 68 seen today. It's been a good year for blossom and now that the Blackthorn has finished the Hawthorn takes over, attracting plenty of insects for the migrants and breeding birds
There was no evidence of hirundine passage today, just the local Swallows doing their thing.
The now regular breeding species include several Rock Pipits.
Three Orange Tip butterflies flew this afternoon. There is still evidence of the presence of the Fox on the island.
