Weather: SW force 3
It was calm first thing, one of the 14 Little Egret's image was reflected while feeding in the gutter
Early on 2 Ravens were on the beach between WK marine lake and Little Eye, this time showing well but in previous days just heard or glimpsed briefly.
Another Common Snipe was seen early in the morning but the day was reasonably quiet for migrants. A Chiffchaff was still present from yesterday, the Goldcrest today however was a new bird to be ringed, the pointed tail feathers age it as a juvenile.
Linnets fly about in high numbers (45), strangely no other finches were again logged. A single Brent Goose reappeared after not showing yesterday while 31 Shelduck, 80 Common Scoter and the 3 Eiders completed the duck species of the day. Highlight of the other sea birds were 4 Arctic Skuas, 2 Gannets and a Red-throated Diver which was the first seen this autumn. Eighty Sandwich Terns were at the roost in the early morning light.
Lots of waders were about including no less than 464 Grey Plover, 410 Curlew, 30 Bar-tailed Godwit, 1,200 Dunlin, 200 Knot, 90 Sanderling, 150 Ringed Plover, a single Whimbrel and one Black-tailed Godwit. There were 2 Shags early on today.
The Red Admirals still keep coming, another 20 today with a single Migrant Hawker dragonfly. Ringed: 1 Goldcrest ( Rock Pipit and Chiffchaff retrapped)
