21st September 2023

Weather:  S force 2/3     warm and sunny

About 120 Grey Seals were resting in their normal position on the exposed West Hoyle bank this morning.

With a fishing boat sailing up and down towing a net.

Despite the suitable weather there were no warblers today, just 2 Goldcrests to be ringed.

Meadow Pipits were moving, about 30 or so and a couple of Pied Wagtails and a Wheatear. The Kestrel was present, also 14 Brent and 6 Bar-tailed Godwits. The odd Blackbird and Swallow are still around with 20 Linnets and a Robin which was retrapped and showed an adult tail shape unlike the Goldcrests.

A single Ref Admiral and 4 Small White butterflies flew.
