Weather: South 1-2, 1/8 good vis
The first southerly airflow for some time produced a good May day on the island. Highlights included the first Sedge Warbler of the year caught and ringed.
A controlled Blackcap (ringed elsewhere) was also caught. At least 25 Willow Warblers were on the islands. Two flava Wagtail passed over calling and 16 House and 11 Sand Martins were also noted.
Five late Pale-bellied Brent Geese flew in with Shelduck and began to feed between the islands on the tide edge. The first two Arctic Terns of May were seen amongst 12 Common, 200 Sandwich and 4 Little Terns.
A Waved Umber was the highlight of the moth trap.
