Weather: SW force 3, NW 2/3 in the afternoon
Six thousand Dunlin were on the East Hoyle shore early morning with 200 Grey Plover mixed amongst them, 100 Curlew fed west of Little Eye with a few around the main island.
Unusually no Purple Sanpiper could be seen or heard today but 150 Knot were recorded along with 20 Redshank and 160 Turnstone.
So familiar and therefore sometimes disregarded are the 3,000 Oystercatchers still wintering.
Brent are still in large numbers at the moment (370 counted) but are expected to gradually start moving north within the next 2 or 3 weeks or so, they seldom remain after the middle of April.
Our 6 Eiders are still here. Looking at the sea found 15 Great Crested Grebes and 300 Common Scoter. Eight Carrion Crow were recorded, 6 of which were noticed
on the West Hoyle when the seals were being counted. One of 2 Meadow Pipits was displaying and a couple of Wrens singing around the middle of the island.
