Highlight of the day was the ringing of 3 White Wagtails that were caught in the potter trap set on the north end slipway (right). It is many years since even one was ringed and it is hard to explain why 3 should suddenly decide to take to the mealworms so readily as there was no massive influx of wagtails, in fact they were the only 3 recorded today. Positioning of the potter traps may be significant also the lack of disturbance early in the morning. Migrant numbers were again moderate with 9 Willow Warblers, 16 Swallows, 3 Sand Martins, 3 House Martins and for the first time recently no Wheatears at all. Twenty One Whimbrel were recorded, also 2 Bar-tailed Godwits and 50 Dunlin.
