9th May 2014

Weather: W 5-6, 4/8 cloud

A brisk westerly breeze chopped up the sea and produced a reasonable seawatch with 350 Gannet counted, 4 Kittiwakes seen and a few terns (Sandwich and Common) but the highlights were 8 Razorbill and 11 Manx Shearwater.

On the island itself 4 Willow Warblers trickled through along with a Whitethroat.  Waders were well represented with 1,300 Dunlin, 40 Ringed Plover and an impressive count of 45 Whimbrel.

On the moth front a Tachystola Acroxantha micro moth was caught overnight and is a first for the island of this recent alien invader.

Ringing: Willow Warbler (3)
