Weather: SE force 3/4 decreasing 1 by evening
There are about 500 Black-headed Gulls near to Hilbre at the moment and a good find among them was an adult Mediterranean Gull. There are also 350 Sandwich Terns still here but a search through failed to find the Elegant Tern that has been joining other Sandwich Tern flocks on coasts around the local area. There were no Willow Warblers here today but a good passage of 28 Sand Martins and about a dozen Swallows was decent compensation. A single Wheatear did make it here. Waders today included 72 Ringed Plover, 1,200 Dunlin, 22 Curlew, 25 Turnstone and a Bar-tailed Godwit. Other birds logged this morning were 8 Little Egrets, 2 Grey Herons, 2 Great Crested Grebes and a Kestrel. The moth trap was in use again and enabled the identification of the following species.
Orange Swift |
Yellow Shell |
