11th October 2019

Weather: Wind WSW force 4, heavy rain with poor visibility all morning, brightening up in the afternoon

The atrocious weather hindered birding all morning & even a lengthy seawatch proved disappointing. The highlight was a late Sandwich Tern with only 200 Common Scoter and 7 Great Crested Grebe adding to the mix. A single Rock Pipit and up to four Meadow Pipits kept the sole observer company at the hide.
After the tide 37 Brent Geese appeared between the islands (a slight reduction on recent days) and a colour-ringed juvenile Cormorant (from Puffin Island, further details to follow when received) roosted on Middle.
Two Goldcrest were the only passerine migrants.
A Peregrine was noted sitting on rocks near Little Eye mid-afternoon.
