A Merlin twice flew off the cliffs at the north west corner as observers approached the north end.
Seven Goldcrests and 2 Chiffchaffs were soon around the paddocks and gardens, also briefly a Reed Bunting, while 8 Wrens suggested a small passage of this 'non migrant' species. As the weather improved 8 Skylarks passed over and 2 Pied Wagtails arrived, while 3 dozen or so Meadow Pipits flew about the island as they moved through. The Brent reached a new high number of 42 birds, and 14 Pink-footed Geese flew east over the island from Wales, while a Wigeon floated off the north end.. Others seen before the tide included 30 Bar-tailed Godwits, 5 Little Egrets, 20 Common Scoter and 2 Rock Pipits. A Peregrine rested on the north hoyle before noon.
Ringed: 3 Goldcrests [ 695-31 ]
