21st March 2022

Weather: ESE force 3, mist around the estuary

It was a very quiet day given the overcast weather, mist and wind direction, although a few finches (7 Siskin and 2 Goldfinches), and about 70 Meadow Pipits went through early.  A single Raven was about the islands for quite a while  in the morning,

and 3 Goosander were off the whaleback.

A couple of Pied Wagtails were around and a Chiffchaff was in the paddocks. Two Shelduck were showing and one each of Little Egret, Grey Heron and Kestrel. Turnstone roosted the tide (77) also 14 Purple Sandpipers. Many of the Brent have been spending some time elsewhere (the Welsh side of the Dee in particular) resulting in low counts here.
