22nd March 2022

Weather:  ESE  force 4  mist around the coasts. warm and sunny later.

Lots of movement this morning, particularly Meadow Pipits (about 250), and finches featuring 21 Siskin, 22 Redpolls, 7 Goldfinches, 2 Chaffinch, also coming through were 12 Pied Wagtails, a Reed Bunting and a House Sparrow.

No Wheatears nor Goldcrests today but 2 Chiffchaffs were ringed.

Two new Robins were also ringed, as was a Linnet and a Song Thrush. Three Goosanders were at the north end, no doubt the same birds as yesterday.

The Brent were absent entirely until the tide flooded at 10.00, then 265 arrived. Again there were singles of Common Scoter, Little Egret, Grey Heron and Kestrel, the waders generally speaking were in low numbers at the very high tide this afternoon, however the beautiful weather did it's best to compensate.
