10th April 2023

Weather:  SE force 4 , later in the morning  NW 3 with rain.

Before the rain arrived there was a liitle migration between the heavy showers although no warblers were involved. Ten Swallows were counted in, also 4 Sand Martins, while 5 Redpolls came through in a flock which were the sole finch migrants this morning. White Wagtails featured again, 10 today with 2 Pied Wagtails. There was still an exit of pink-footed Geese out of the estuary, about 600 this morning. A look at the sea produced a Red-throated Diver, 30 Common Scoter, 4 Great Crested Grebes, 4 Red-breasted Mergansers and 2 Sandwich Terns. A Raven flew over the island, a regular visitor recently.

Around the island, Brent were down to 5 counted this morning and Purple Sandpipers 7, single Grey Heron and Little Egret made the list.

The Red-legged Partridge roamed about the island again. At least 2 pairs of Blackbirds are still here, hopefully they will breed.

As mentioned previously the moth trap has not been successful in the last 5 or 6 days with just a single moth caught. This morning the total was doubled when a Dark Sword-grass visited us.
