Weather:  E force 2/3

Good birding today when the continuing easterly wind brought several migrants to the islands. Six Song Thrushes dropped in as did 4 Blackbirds, 8 Chiffchaffs, 10 Robins, a Blackcap, a Redwing, a Goldcrest, 2 Greenfinches and a Goldfinch.

Visible passing migrants included 8 Skylarks and 3 Pied Wagtails. Two Teal, Wigeon and 103 Shelduck were seen and 3 Pin-footed Geese flew north west whilst calling. A high tide watch produced 6 Red-throated Divers, 3 Gannets, 52 Great Crested Grebes, and 24 Common Scoters.

In the afternoon a Short-eared Owl was sighted from the obs garden flying low down beyond the west side going to the south.

Ringed: 2 Chiffchaffs, 1 Blackcap, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Robin, 1 Dunnock, 1 Wren, 2 Blackbirds, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Redwing.             [ 423-29 ]
