10th March 2020

Weather: Wind WSW 6/7 continuing all day

The wind direction and strength meant the hoped-for early Spring migrants did not arrive but were however conducive for a sea-watch over the (very) high tide.

Highlights included the first two Gannets of the year, 15 Red-throated Divers, two Kittiwakes, 20 Great Grested Grebes, 11 Razorbills (including a raft of eight) and a Guillemot. A Harbour Porpoise swam east off the North end. Only four Purple Sandpipers could be found roosting the tide.

Passerines were unsurprisingly few and far between but a couple of Meadow Pipits were in display flight despite the windy conditions.
