1st April 2010

With the wind blowing force 7 to 8 from the west-north west sea-watching was the order of the day. Results included 107 Little Gulls flying west (with just one 1st year bird), 2 Velvet Scoters (at the distance adopted by the long staying bird), 20 Kittiwales, 7 Red-breasted Mergansers and 12 Great Crested Grebes. On the island were the Black Redstart, a Chaffinch and a Wheatear.
On the way off the island it was noted that there had been wreck of thousands of Common and Brittle Starfish (thought to be ophiura texturata) and also of Razor Shells following yesterdays storm. They were mostly to be seen between the island and Red Rocks.
