Weather: WNW force 5/6
Highlight of today were 150 Golden Plover at Little Eye, 120 flew north and 20 south, also 5 male Scaup off the island. Counts on the ebb tide included 102 Shelduck, 1,200 Dunlin, 500+ Cormorants, 150 Grey Plover (flying south), 130 Curlew, 8 Bar-tailed Godwits and 25 Ringed Plover. Only 2 Purple Sandpipers could be found, and single little Egret, Great Crested Grebe and Common Scoter.

Weather: heavy rain early on
The Canadian colour-ringed Pale-bellied Brent Goose was part of a flock of 180 birds on the ridge just south of Middle this morning and was photographed (see below - photo by BSB).
A female Common Scoter was in the gutter.
Two Rock Pipits were present on Middle and 160 Shelduck were counted in a brief visit to Middle and back as the ride rose.

Weather: SE force 0/1 fog
A brief visit in fog saw a male Peregrine attack a Sparrowhawk over the east hoyle bank at the north end. Seventy Redshank were counted around the island.

Weather: SSE force 2/3
A Sparrowhawk was again logged, the two Scaup were still present and 185 Brent Geese were counted.

A Snow Bunting was found today by the path onto the island, the same place as the last 4 weeks ago.
A Stonechat was also found, a typical late winter/early spring record here.
The 2 Scaup were still present.

A female Velvet Scoter was a very welcome visitor today, it was seen drifting down the west side of the island. The 2 Scaup were still off the north end. Good counts were made of 488 Bar-tailed Godwits, 150 Sanderling and 122 Redshank.

Weather: N force 1/2 cold
The male Scaup was joined by the second one again today, floating just off the north end (right,CJ). The other highlight was off a male Sparrowhawk flushing the waders in the east gutter before flying off towards Red Rocks. Redshank were counted at 129, while a Blackbird, a Rock Pipit and a single Linnet were present. A Grey Seal was hauled out on the rocks below the steps to 'shell beach'. At high tide 14 Linnets flew over the obs towards Middle. Four Purple Sandpipers roosted the tide as did 4,000 Oystercatchers, also 600 Dunlin and 52 Curlew. Ninety six Brent gathered in the lagoon.
