3rd July 2019

 Weather: NE force 2
The major event of today was the finding of 2 Ringlet butterflies, the first record for Hilbre.
Other insects included a Hummingbird hawk moth by the bottom gate of the new obs garden, also a few Painted Ladies.
The Rock-sea lavender is out now with the best display by the land rover track leading up to the south of the island.
Meanwhile the Pyramidal Orchid still blooms and there is quite a lot of Vetch also in bloom.

The seals were counts on the haul out at 112, a number which seems a little low for this time of year.

The only un-summer like bird visitor was a Magpie.
 Ringed: 2 Linnets, 1 Wren.                          [ 572-30 ]
