20th August 2021

Weather:  SE force 2

A warm morning with a light breeze made it very pleasent to br out and about but there was just a single Willow Warbler on the island first thing but 3 more joined it later.

Three Wheatears appeared towards the north end and one was caught for ringing by the west side path.

Moving west across towards Wales in the morning were 3 groups totalling 34 Shelduck, and 4 Gannets showed out to sea early in the day. Two hundred and fifty Dunlin were close in and another 750 towards the West kirby shore and 25 Turnstone sat at the north end after the tide. Two Harbour Porpoises swam west across the Dee at midday and were easily seen in the calm water. The results from the moth trap overnight produced the following fine specimens among others.
