 Weather: ESE force 3   rain and mist, brighter later


A few good waders present this morning included a Golden Plover, a Whimbrel, a Purple Sandpiper and a Curlew Sandpiper.

 

 More usual fare on the shore included 185 Curlew, 73 Ringed Plover, 650 Dunlin, 24 Turnstone and a small number of Redshank (adult (left) and juvenile shown together for useful comparison).

  Five Wheatears were scattered about, a Grey Wagtail came through, also 5 alba Wagtails,

  and a small number of Robins (2 ringed). A Chiffchaff was the only warbler.

  A dozen or so extra Swallows and 2 House Martins joined the local birds. Good numbers of Linnets (70) Meadow Pipits (35) and Rock Pipits (8) are still about the island.

 Both Kestrel and Peregrine were logged. The Kestrel was bathing in a pothole on the main path across the island.

 

  Another large frog was in the paddocks.
