7th August 2023

 Weather: WNW force 3

A Wheatear was at the north of Middle Eye first thing, it moved over the rocks east of the Lagoon and then onto the Stack. It was hoped that this was a good omen for the day but sadly it was very quiet.

Six Little Egret flew from the marsh out to the islands after dawn, 2 Grey Heron fished on the west side of Middle and the Eider was out on the Whaleback. About 400 Sandwich Tern roosted on the East Hoyle but only 5 Common Tern were amongst them.

A single Bar-tailed Godwit was at the tide edge, also noted were 72 Dunlin. 5 Redshank. 5 Whimbrel, 17 Turnstone and 20 Ringed Plover.
